“Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics”: The AMC Two-Night Event

Looking for the “Big Bang” — that spark which initiated what would become America’s if not the World’s interest in comics as a popular entertainment platform?

Searching for the underlying import as generation upon generation discovers and develops a growing loyalty to the Comic Book as a visual and literary artform?

And what about the unforeseeable impact of the Super Hero, including the transformation of the traditional Super Hero into a complex being with inherent, and more importantly, relatable human characteristics?

“Face front, true believers!”— All will be revealed, as AMC presents as part of its Visionaries’ series, Robert Kirkman’s Secret History Of Comics.

The six-part, one-hour documentary drama premieres with a two-night event on AMC beginning “Sunday, November 12th at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by a second episode on Monday, November 13th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, in its regular time slot.”

This transformative culture is explored through events, memories and experiences of those who contributed to and helped shape our view of the comic book mystique. Featured participants include Stan Lee, Patty Jenkins, Lynda Carter, Kevin Smith, Famke Janssen, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Rodriguez, and Todd McFarlane and many others.

“My love for the world of comics knows no bounds,” said Kirkman.  “It’s a universe of amazing stories that has been driving pop culture as a whole for decades. Being able to explore the nooks and crannies of this world has allowed me to find out secrets even I didn’t know.  It’s been a pleasure putting this series together and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to finally share it with the world.”

Robert Kirkland, (The Walking Dead, Outcast, Invincible) serves as exec-producer alongside, David Alpert (The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead), Bryan and Sean Furst (Daybreakers, Dice), Daniel Junge (Saving Face, Being Evel) and Rory Karpf (The Book of Manning, Dale).
